Jonathan B. Stern

Jonathan Stern is a senior member of the VPREDM team, and is an expert in market analysis, public-private partnerships, financing, upfront project planning and development management, with 20+ years of experience advising both public and private clients on real estate projects and transactions valued over $1.5 billion.

With dual Master degrees in Architecture and Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, able to provide strategic direction and practical execution of complex real estate asset portfolios, financial transactions and development projects for public and private clients that include: Montgomery County (Maryland), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), City of Blue Springs (Missouri), National Security Agency (NSA), Dept. of Commerce, ChevronTexaco, Florida Power & Light, Shell Oil, Microsoft, public-private partnerships, leading commercial realty companies and global architecture & engineering firms.

In the past three years, Mr. Stern has been instrumental in the Federal government’s effort to leverage the value of existing assets to finance development of new projects to meet the expanding needs of its portfolio and client-agencies. Additionally, Mr. Stern has led the management of major capital and small project investments throughout the Federal government’s DC regional portfolio, including development studies and economic development proposals.

Important skills and accreditation include: 1) LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Accredited Professional for 10 years, which has enabled being a strong advocate and practitioner of sustainability policy and best practices in real estate portfolio and asset management projects, and 2) certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with skills and knowledge to lead, implement and guide teams of asset management professional, specialists, experts and staff professionals in best practices of project management, to achieve highly effective, client driven outcomes that are aligned with key business objectives.

Advanced knowledge and mastery of real estate principles, concepts and functions related to portfolio and asset management; real estate transactions and development practices; and planning and design, investment analysis, operations and management. Used broad knowledge and effective public speaking skills to teach real estate finance, planning and management at the Washington University (in St. Louis) Graduate School of Business.
